The long awaited alternate version of the heavy hitting Opticor, the Opticor Vandal, carries with it stats that can be considered as the polar opposite of the original which sacrifices damage for a faster charge rate, unloading powerful beams of energy quickly along with a higher critical rate and status chance.

The Opticor Vandal is potentially more powerful than the standard Opticor by dealing more sustained damage in a small amount of time rather than a prolonged charged burst of damage.

How To Get Opticor Vandal?

The Opticor Vandal can only be obtained as a reward from the recurring Operation: Buried Debts event by earning 100 points from sealing Thermia Fractures. Once you get enough points, you will receive the Opticor Vandal directly in your inventory.

You can only obtain this weapon once if you would delete this weapon from your inventory you will not be able to get it back even if you redo the missions.

Opticor Vandal Stats

The Opticor Vandal is a corpus laser cannon that shoots out a single burst laser that is little affected by negative accuracy making it viable for some of the corrupted mods to improve its firepower significantly that also has great range that is unaffected by falloff.

Another feature of the weapon is that once the laser hits a solid object it will also explode in a small area dealing magnetic damage around the point of impact.

Opticor Vandal Builds

1) Critical Build

The Opticor Vandal is more viable for critical builds than its standard counterpart by letting it dish out a ridiculous amount of damage and focusing on critical mods without the need of adding on fire rate. This makes the weapon more effective and easier to equip with mods. Focusing on building up a good amount of damage can easily guarantee that you can kill enemies with a single shot.

2) Status Build

Easily reaching 100% and over status chance, the Opticor Vandal also beats the standard Opticor in this category. Focusing on a high precision projectile that punches through enemies, inflicting negative status effects with every enemy hit.

Using a blast/corrosive build lets you inflict punishment efficiently while enemies are staggered and blinded by the effects of blast damage and hitting tough enemies with corrosive damage makes obliterating them much easier when their armor is stripped.

3) Hybrid Build

This is where the power of the Opticor Vandal shines where it can focus on damage and status effects. Maximizing the use of the limited slots for damage focused mods without the need for utility mods to make the weapon viable in any mission.

With a viral/heat combination alongside Hunter Munitions, the weapon’s innate magnetic damage can compete with the high damage output of the original.

4) Puncture Build

Improving IPS of any weapon can be a touchy subject, especially to veterans and the Opticor Vandal is no doubt one of those weapons. Improving the already very high puncture damage of the Opticor Vandal results with the puncture proc to only be reduced by 50% making it truly devastating when it comes to killing tougher special units of any enemy faction.

5) Fire Rate Build

Why would you need to improve on the fire rate of the Opticor Vandal? Well it certainly adds a lot of fun factors where in blasting away enemies with an almost semi-automatic Opticor Vandal is as fun as it sounds.

Although losing out on damage boosting mods and replacing them with fire ate mods might be reducing its overall effectiveness, it can be worth the sacrifice to increase the weapon’s fire rate by a ridiculous amount. Although this might be fun for some users, the weapon may not be as viable in higher level missions but great for low to medium tier ones respectively.

Riven Mods

Core Riven Stats

With the Opticor Vandal’s great functionality stats that surpasses the original significantly it actually lacks on the overall damage output by only wielding 40% of its predecessors damage potential.

In particular the Opticor family Riven mod would prefer an ideal god roll of raw or elemental damage with multishot and critical damage to make it go in par with the original damage output of the standard Opticor, but for a hefty price for those kinds of stats. As an alternative option, a good damage/multishot combo or critical chance/damage will be a good.

Top Tier

These are the best possible combination of the Opticor Riven.

High Tier

These are the highest possible numbers that the Opticor Riven will have.

• Damage/Elemental Damage
• Multishot
• Harmless Negative

Acceptable Negative Stats

• Negative ammo maximum as your best negative stat due to the great ammo efficiency of the Opticor Vandal.
• Negative flight speed is also great to have since the laser is unaffected by it.
• Positive Recoil is also a good negative on your riven since it doesn’t affect your effectiveness whatsoever.

Bad Negative Stats

• Negative fire rate is in the middle when it comes to the Opticor Vandal but really bad in general when it comes to effectiveness in missions.
• Negative puncture/IPS with the weapons lowered damage output and getting such a reduction will affect your damage potential in a bad way.
• Negative faction is also a middle line, depending on the level of the missions. Higher tier missions will be affected when killing tougher more heavily armored units.

Useless Positive stats

Some of the positive stats are always ok but in this instance for the Opticor Vandal it is sort of detrimental to have these positive stats that doesn’t really make any improvement on the effectiveness of the weapon.

• Positive Magazine size or Positive ammo capacity are a waste of stats on this weapon’s Riven due to the great ammo efficiency of the Opticor series.
• Flight speed has a very minimal effect on the projectile of the weapon, mainly you won’t even notice it take effect.

Final Thoughts

The Opticor Vandal is arguably weaker than the original but provides a bit more flexibility when it comes to higher level fights, where you need to keep moving and staying in one place is a bad idea.

Even though it only has 40% of the overall damage output of the original, it still can deal almost the same amount of the damage in the same amount of time as the original would fire its first shot.

Killing more enemies efficiently rather than obliterating one enemy at a time with an overkill amount of damage, the Opticor Vandal is surely more than just a novelty weapon that performs exceptionally well and is a good alternative to the original without over shadowing it but rather performing for a different set of skills altogether.
